Additional Rules
Three-phase evaluation: Traders must reach a 6% profit target in each of the three evaluation phases, all with no time limit. On a $15,000 account, this means generating $900 in closed profits per phase while respecting all drawdown rules.
No minimum trading days in evaluation: The 3-Step challenge does not impose any minimum number of profitable trading days during evaluation. Traders can complete each phase as quickly as needed.
Minimum trading days in funded stage: At least 3 valid trading days are required before each payout. A valid day requires a minimum profit of 0.5% of the initial balance, meaning at least $75 profit per qualifying day on a $15,000 account. This counter resets after each payout.
Daily loss limit of 4%: On a $15,000 account, the maximum daily loss is $600. The threshold is calculated at 5:00 PM EST by taking the higher of balance or equity, then subtracting $600. The dollar-value daily allowance remains fixed at $600 regardless of account growth.
Maximum drawdown of 8% static: The absolute floor is $13,800. If equity or balance drops to or below this level at any point, the account is immediately breached.
Static drawdown model: Both limits are calculated from the initial account balance. Profits made during any phase do not tighten the risk parameters.
Leverage: Up to 1:100 for Forex in evaluation, reduced to 1:50 in funded. Indices and Commodities capped at 1:20 in evaluation and 1:10 in funded. Crypto 1:2 across all stages.
Profit split: 80% by default, with 100% profit split and on-demand first reward (40% split after 3 days) available as add-ons at checkout.
Payout frequency: Bi-weekly, with first 2 payouts capped at 6% of initial balance ($900) or $10,000, whichever is lower. Cap removed after second successful payout.
Daily profit cap in funded stage: $3,000 per day. Profits above this are deducted but do not cause a breach.
News trading: Permitted with a 1% profit cap ($150) per high-impact news event for trades opened or closed within 5 minutes of the release. Excess profit is removed, no breach triggered.
EAs allowed with restrictions: Own-code EAs permitted. HFT, arbitrage, gold scalping, and commercial challenge-passing EAs are prohibited. Copy trading is banned.
Weekend and overnight holding: Permitted across all phases and the funded stage.
Three-phase commitment: A breach at any point requires starting over from Phase 1. Three phases represent the longest evaluation path in GFT's challenge lineup.
No minimum days advantage and risk: The absence of minimum trading days in evaluation can encourage over-trading in a single session to hit targets quickly, particularly on a $15,000 account where the $600 daily limit can be consumed in a handful of adverse trades.
1% news profit cap asymmetry: Losses from news-window trades count in full, while gains are capped at $150 on a $15,000 account, creating unfavorable risk-reward for news strategies.
First two payout caps: At $15,000, the 6% cap translates to $900 per payout for the first two withdrawals, limiting early access to earned profits.
