Who Is This Firm For?
About Funding Traders
The part traders actually care about: payouts are reportedly fast and the trading conditions are flexible. No major horror stories circulating. For a firm that calls itself "rapidly growing," the pass rate of 17.6% suggests the growth isn't coming from making challenges too easy.

Solid platform, reliable payouts
First time trying a prop firm, so this was all new to me. I have had zero unexpected rule changes since I started here. One of the firms I actively point people toward when asked.— Verified Trader (lucia c.) See all reviews
The 30% news PnL rule means your payout gets delayed — not denied — but you need additional non-news trades to bring the ratio below the cap before you can request again. On Instant Funding, the 1% floating loss cap applies at all times across open positions, not just per trade. If your account gets placed in the Risk Management Group during a payout request, cooperate fully — withholding information carries the same consequence as failing the review.

Funding Traders – Trading Conditions
News Trading
This one varies significantly by model — & the difference matters if news trading is part of your strategy.
2-Step PRO6 / PRO10 & 1-Step PRO:
- Challenge phase → fully allowed
- Funded phase → allowed, but news-influenced profits must not exceed 30% of total PnL
- If the 30% threshold is exceeded → payout delayed until additional trades bring it below the limit
- Any position opened, held or closed within 5 minutes before or after high-impact news counts as a news trade
- Exception: trades held 5+ hours before the news release are exempt
Instant Funding:
- No trading 10 minutes before or after high-impact news — full restriction
The 30% PnL rule on standard accounts is the one most traders miss. You can trade the news, make good money from it & still have your payout delayed because too much of your profit came from one source. Plan accordingly.
Weekend Holding
- 2-Step PRO6 / PRO10 / 1-Step PRO → allowed, with warnings about widened spreads & swap rates
- Instant Funding → not allowed, all trades must be closed by market close on Friday
Standard split between evaluation models & instant funding — exactly what you'd expect. If you're on an instant account & you forget to close before Friday, the account closes it for you. The market doesn't care about your weekend plans.
Drawdown & Hard Breach Rules
This is where the models diverge most significantly.
| Model | Daily Drawdown | Max Drawdown | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2-Step PRO6 | 3% of starting day's equity | 6% fixed from initial balance | Static |
| 2-Step PRO10 | 5% of starting day's equity | 10% fixed from initial balance | Static |
| 1-Step PRO | 3% of starting day's equity | 10% from highest recorded balance | Trailing |
| Instant Funding | 3% of higher of balance or equity | 6% trailing until 3% profit, then locked | Trailing |
The PRO6 model's combination of 3% daily & 6% max drawdown is the tightest in the lineup — manageable for disciplined traders, unforgiving for anyone who has a bad day early on. The PRO10 gives significantly more room & is worth the extra cost if your strategy has variance.
Side note: the Instant Funding trailing drawdown that locks after 3% profit sounds reassuring until you realize it means your floor is now permanently higher than when you started. The better you do early, the less room you have to breathe later.
Maximum Risk Per Trade
- 2-Step PRO6 / PRO10 → 2% of initial account balance per trade idea (funded phase only)
- 1-Step PRO → 2% per trade idea (challenge AND funded phase)
- Instant Funding → floating PnL must not exceed -1% of account size at any point
The IF floating PnL rule is the strictest risk per trade restriction in the lineup — 1% floating loss cap means a single bad trade can force you out of positions before your stop loss even triggers. Tight, but predictable once you know it's there.
Consistency Rules
- 2-Step PRO6 / PRO10 → no consistency rule
- 1-Step PRO → biggest trading day must not exceed 50% of total PnL
- Instant Funding → biggest trading day must not exceed 15% of total PnL
The IF 15% best day rule is one of the strictest consistency requirements in the industry. It means 7 profitable days minimum just to have one exceptional day count fully — & exceptional days tend to happen when you least expect them, not when you've planned for the math to work out.
Profit Targets
| Model | Phase 1 | Phase 2 | Funded |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2-Step PRO6 | 6% | 6% | — |
| 2-Step PRO10 | 10% | 5% | — |
| 1-Step PRO | 10% | — | — |
| Instant Funding | No target | — | Profitable days + compliance |
PRO6's twin 6% targets are unusual — most firms front-load the harder target in Phase 1. Here both phases are equal, which is either fairer or just twice the opportunity to fail, depending on your perspective.
EAs & Copy Trading
- EAs allowed only if used for risk management purposes
- Off-the-shelf bots → forbidden
- Grid, hedge, martingale, arbitrage bots → forbidden
- Copy trading to/from FundingTraders accounts → allowed
- Sharing signals or copying to outside accounts → prohibited
- HFT → not allowed (defined as trades lasting 15 seconds or less)
- Volume-Weighted Average Holding Time below 2 minutes → termination
The EA policy is more restrictive than most firms — "risk management only" is a narrow definition that excludes most automated strategies. If your EA does anything beyond managing stops & position sizing, get it reviewed before you use it.
Payouts
| Model | Frequency | Profit Split | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2-Step PRO6 / PRO10 | Every 14-21 days | 80% default (90-100% with add-on) | $200 |
| 1-Step PRO | Every 14-21 days | 90% default (100% with add-on) | $200 |
| Instant Funding | Every 14 days | 90% default (100% with add-on) | 1% of account |
Two important notes: the first 3% profit on Instant Funding accounts is non-withdrawable & serves as a drawdown buffer. And if your account breaches within 48 hours of a payout request, the payout is denied & the amount is credited back to your balance — not paid out, credited back.
Risk Management Group
This section exists & it's worth knowing about.
An account may be placed into the Risk Management Group at any time if:
- Risking 2% or more
- All-or-nothing approaches
- Excessive leverage or max lot usage
- Speculative news trading
- Extreme scalping or inconsistent trade durations
- Risking across multiple accounts to trick the system
Being placed in the Risk Management Group can happen during account review, upon payout request or through active scanning. The practical consequence is that payouts can be withheld while the assessment is completed — & you are required to participate in interviews & answer questions about your strategy fully & promptly.
Inactivity Rule
- 30 consecutive days of inactivity → account terminated, all programs
Standard across the industry.
Final Take
Funding Traders offers a genuinely varied lineup — PRO6, PRO10, 1-Step & Instant Funding cover most trading styles & risk appetites. The rules are detailed, the payout structure is clear & the models are well-differentiated.
The sections worth reading twice before you buy: the 30% news PnL rule on funded accounts, the IF 15% best day consistency requirement & the Risk Management Group criteria — which can affect payouts at any time, including during active payout requests.
If your approach is consistent, your risk is controlled & you don't rely heavily on news trading for funded account profits — Funding Traders is a reasonable option with a solid structure. If any of the above apply to how you trade, factor them into your model selection before you commit.

Passed on my third attempt
Used their instant funding option instead of the traditional evaluation. Their dashboard makes it easy to see exactly where you stand at any moment. Five stars from me, with no significant reservations.
Platform stability is great
Found them through a discount code and decided to give them a try. Account credentials arrived quickly after I paid. My default answer when people ask which prop firm to try.
Genuine trader-first feel
Been a member of their Discord community for months now. The scaling plan is achievable if you trade consistently for a few months. I would comfortably recommend them to anyone serious about prop trading.
Surprisingly smooth experience
I have been with this firm for about three months now. News trading is allowed with reasonable restrictions around major releases. They have earned my loyalty with how they handle the basics.
Renewed my challenge confidently
Decided to try them after their founder did a podcast interview. Platform stability has been solid with minimal downtime. I have zero regrets about putting my evaluation fee here.
